Obama Elected Top Movie Date
By Texters
Tens of Thousands Texting Moviegoers Have Spoken
Tuesday, November 4, 2008  - The national
polls open today but tens of thousands of
texting moviegoers were asked a specific
question last week, and they have spoken!

Senator Barack Obama beat out Senator
John McCain when polled via text message
"Who would you rather take to the movies?"

Texters had no problem sounding off  on who
they preferred when it came to catching a flick
with the two presidential candidates.

Senator Obama easily raked in the most
votes with 83% of all text messages
compared to McCain's 17%.

Currently Senator McCain is not only trailing
in moviegoer polls, but national presidential
polls as well. "Indications are it's linked to the
fact that Obama has adapted the tech talk of
our users," said Chris Geromini, head of the
mobile service that gives people movie
showtimes and movie news.

From the start, Senator Obama has branded
himself as cutting-edge, with the crowning
point a record setting text message blast to
millions of Americans naming his running
mate back in August.

In the spirit of the upcoming election, popular
mobile website 43KIX.com sent the text
message poll to more than 35,000
moviegoers from large cities to small towns
with all ages weighing in.

raises funds to support and
develop programs that
address the plight of young
African-American and
Latino men in the New York City area.
There are significant issues that
disproportionately affect African
American and Latino young men in
our City. For example, there are high
incidence of imprisonment and
attrition from high school, decreased
reading aptitude, and the high rates
of STD infections, specifically
HIV/AIDS. It is the long standing
belief that education is the key to
changing the mentality of our youth.
Wall Street Alphas Charitable
Foundation, through the Alpha
G.E.N.T.S. (Gaining Essential
Networking Tools for Success)
mentoring program, provides these
young men with extraordinary life
changing experiences through a
myriad of educational programs,
college trips and life long mentoring.
Through events like Think Black! and
the support of sponsors they provide
resources and solutions to build
intellectual and social equity among
the underrepresented youth in
impoverished communities.

Terrie M. Williams is a social worker
by training who became a successful
public relations pro by her own
design, inscribed her prominence as
an author of the successful business
and inspirational story, and has now
emerged as an advocate for youth
and those who battle depression.

The D" With Soulful Jazz for Heads
Up International
New York July 21, 2009 -
Flutist Alexander Zonjic
is aided and
accompanied by a
variety of songwriters,
performers and friends
Special guests include Kenny G, Rick
Braun, Bob James, Jeff Lorber, Chieli
Minucci, Maysa Leak and more.

Zonjic tips his hat to his adopted city
Detroit on his new album "Doin’ The D"
for Heads Up International, a division of
Concord Music Group.  Vocalist Maysa
Leak sounds like a Phyliss Hyman and
is a bonus on the track "Undun".

“It’s always interesting when a new
record starts coming together,” says
Zonjic. “I basically throw an invitation
out to all my music buddies and wonder
how many of them will come to the
party. I was completely surprised and
pleased with the number of people who
participated in this record."

Says Zonjic. “It’s one of the greatest
music cities in the world. All you need
to do is consider that Aretha Franklin
still lives here after so many years.
Eminem is here, Bob Seger is here,
Mitch Ryder is here, Anita Baker, Kid
Rock, and the list goes on. Obviously,
the city is going through its share of
tough times right now – like so many
other cities. But I continue to
appreciate everything “The D” has
done for my career, and I will always
support it.”.

"Doin the D' hit streets June 23, 2009.

Brooklyn, NY August 18,
2009 -
Concord Jazz
has announced the
release of
vibraphonist
composer Stefon
Harris'   7th album as
a bandleader and
Concord debut titled
"Urbanus".
Stefon Harris and Blackout to
Release "Urbanus" On Concord
Jazz August 25, 2009
The new release picks up where
2004's "Evolution" left off in that it
features Blackout, his scintillating
ensemble that's as versed in
modern jazz as it is with rhythms,
melodies and sound- scapes
associated with R&B, Pop, Hip-hop
and Funk. The 10-track-album hits
stores August 25.

The GRAMMY-nominated
musician born in 1973, has been
hailed as "one of the most
important young artists in jazz"
(Los Angeles Times), and is widely
recognized by both peers and
critics alike for his innovative
compositions, blazing new paths
on the vibraphone and marimba.

Earlier this year Stefon Harris

wrapped-up his
multi-year
residency with Fontana Chamber
Arts, in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
Twice a year he spoke to and
mentored area music students.
Harris has seen students grow
from unsure middle schoolers to
confident high school jazz
musicians,and stated, "When they
share the stories of what impact
your visit has had, it is all the
encouragement you need to
continue to do what you're doing
and try to get better at it,"

On "Urbanus", Stefon Harris and
Blackout display a deeper group
rapport as well as a more
expansive sonic palette as Marc
Cary complements the acoustic
piano with Fender Rhodes and
alto saxophonist Casey Benjamin
lends his captivating vocoder work
to the proceeding.  "One of the
biggest indicators of our growth as
a band is the level of contribution
from all the members of the
ensemble," Harris enthuses. "The
music not only incorporates all of
our writing but everyone's cultural
backgrounds as well."

The tour promoting "Urbanus"
kicked off September 7th at the

An Intuitive Approach Is At The Heart
Of “Mind Over Matter,” The New
Recording By Saxophonist NAJEE Set
For Release On August 25, 2009 On
Heads Up International
New York August 18, 2009 -
Sometimes making music is
all about the mechanics, like
balancing the melody with the
harmony and the rhythm,
making sure the tempo is right
from the beginning of the song to the end,
matching the right vocalist to the story within
the lyrics, knowing when to come in with the
solos and when to hang back.  The litany of
technical details to consider in crafting a
piece of good music can be endless.
Sometimes the process is much more intuitive
and effortless. Sometimes the planets line up
and the right groove emerges on its own, and
all anyone needs to do is get on board and
ride into a realm of limitless possibilities.  That
intuitive approach is at the heart of Mind Over
Matter, the new recording by saxophonist
Najee set for release on

August 25, 2009, on
Heads Up International,
a division of
Concord Music Group. In
addition to
Najee’s fine balance of songcraft
and musicianship, the album also includes
songwriting and guest appearances by
keyboardist Jeff Lorber and vocalists Eric
Benét and Gary Taylor.

The album title, says Najee, is inspired by
Miles Davis’ approach to songwriting,
especially in the latter part of his career.
